Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of the work of the Food Bank of Greenwood County.

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Food Bank of Greenwood County.  When you choose to serve with us, you bring your gifts and talents that help us to walk in our mission of addressing food insecurity in Greenwood County.

In other word, we simply could not exist without the help of volunteers just like you!

Would you like to be a partner in our vision and mission?  Here are some ways that you can share your time and talents as a volunteer of the Food Bank of Greenwood County.

  • Food Distribution.  Volunteers package food for distribution in our Golden Harvest and Sowing Seeds programs.
  • Picking up & Delivering Donations. Volunteers help to unload deliveries to the Food Bank, sort them and place them on shelves.  There are some opportunities for volunteers to pick up donations from local retail stores and deliver them to the Food Bank.
  • Cleaning and Prep. Volunteers help to clean up the Food Bank after distribution and help to prepare it for the next day.

Volunteers may sign up for specific days and specific shifts.  Some will work multiple times a week; some work once a month.  All volunteer contributions are valuable and appreciated.

Volunteer distribution shifts are from 9:45 AM until 1 PM on designated days.  Warehouse shifts may vary based on specific seasons and needs.
